MAC Clinical Research manages clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry and an exciting range of career opportunities exists in our expanding Clinical Development Organisation. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Clinical Rating Specialist to join our team at our dedicated research site in Cannock, South Staffordshire.


This job would be suitable for anyone with a psychology background.


Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team are essential. 


The focus of the job is to carry out ratings for patients as required, these may include such ratings as MMSE, ADAS-Cog, NPI, MOCA and activities of daily living. The successful candidate will perform rating scales in clinical trials ensuring protocol, GCP and regulatory compliance, and to assist with the assessment of patients within the memory clinic service where required, ensuring source notes, case report forms and electronic data entry are completed accurately and queries resolved in a timely manner.



  • Ensure patients fully understand procedures, encourage patients to express any concerns.

  • Deal courteously with patients at all times.

  • Ensure a pleasant and safe environment for patients.

  • Administer relevant clinical rating scales in accordance with the study protocol efficiently and effectively.

  • Ensure meticulous recording of data in both clinical and research notes.

  • Ensure source notes, case report forms and electronic data entry are completed accurately.

  • Ensure all patient study visits and phone calls are conducted in accordance with protocol requirements.

  • Effective and professional communication with the Principal Investigator, Study coordinator and the rest of the study team on site (if permitted in the study protocol)

  • Attend Site Initiation Visits and Investigator Meetings as necessary.

  • Available to help resolve any relevant queries with the study monitors.

  • Assist with clinical activities as required by the clinical team.



  • BSC/MSc in Psychology qualification or similar healthcare background and experience (essential)

  • 2 years experience of working with various mental health conditions would be an advantage, including, dementia, depression, Alzheimer’s (essential)

  • Entitlement to BPS Graduate Basis for Registration (desirable)

  • Experience in ratings such as MMSE, ADAS-Cog, NPI, MOCA and activities of daily living (desirable)

  • Experience within the field of clinical trials (desirable, however full training will be provided)
