CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER

MAC Clinical Research manages clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry and we are seeking to appoint an experienced Chief Legal Officer to join our team to provide legal and commercial support to the business and make a positive impact in a world-leading Contract Research Organisation.


We are happy to be flexible with regards to location in the UK, so any of our clinical site locations may be considered with the option for home working for the right candidate. This role would suit candidate with background or keen interest in the legal sector.


Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team are essential.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of the Legal function.

  • Develop, analyse, coordinate and assist in the negotiation of clinical agreements such as Master Service Agreements, Clinical Trial Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, Service Agreements and Letters of Intent.

  • Review Supply Contracts.

  • Liaise with internal departments as needed for operational input on agreements.

  • Finalise terms with clients in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Provide legal advice and support to the Board in respect of general legal, commercial and operational matters.

  • Develop process improvements e.g. SOP’s applicable to contracts.

  • Draft, review and update contract templates as needed.

  • Instruct and manage external legal advisors as appropriate.


KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified solicitor.

  • At least three years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry/life sciences.

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of commercial and corporate law.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent negotiating and drafting skills.

  • Able to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business.

  • Able to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand.

  • Able to work in a highly autonomous role.

  • Knowledge across a several areas of law.

  • Able to manage own workload.

  • Excellent organisation skills.

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

  • Staff management experience desirable but not essential.
