MAC Clinical Research manages clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry and we are seeking to appoint a Portfolio Director to join our team and make a positive impact in a world-leading Clinical Research Organisation.
We are happy to be flexible with regards to location, so any of our clinical sites in this region may be considered with the option of home working.
The focus of this role is to be responsible for sales growth and building relationships within a specific set of accounts (determined by region, therapeutic area or service line) and to support the Business Development team in development, implementation, and achievement of the business vision, strategic plan and execution for the account.
Support MAC’s business development efforts in therapeutic area, service line or region-specific account plans.
Direct responsibility for assigned Accounts including identification of new business opportunities, development of relationships with key stakeholders.
Manage Bid pursuit processes, commercial positioning of MAC in contention for new business opportunities.
Develop or contribute to account plans.
Working in a consultative manner, identify opportunities and collaborate with Business Development group to develop winning and integrative solutions across MAC’s services.
Develop email narratives, contribute to bid pursuit, proposal narratives and executive summaries.
Lead bid pursuit meetings .
Gain knowledge from Sponsor for requirements of proposal, covering appropriate pricing to win the business and meet financial targets, contractual terms and aspects of business risk.
Pursue awareness of competitive activities, position and pricing, including reasons for awards and non-awards.
Sharing information across MAC’s internal teams and ensuring all data and information is updated on the company CRM as contacts are made and customer interactions and contacts occur.
Co-write, input into and present proposals that result in winning new sales.
Collaborate with the Sales team and management on sales and marketing strategy.
Building market intelligence across MAC’s sectors and presenting it to be used to MAC’s commercial advantage across our internal teams.
As required, attend customer meetings, networking events and exhibitions.
Work to meet set MAC Corporate objectives and departmental/company-wide core metrics.
Understand the clients’ development and commercial strategy, product development portfolio, and pain points.
Develop a strong understanding of clients’ organizational structures and key stakeholders.
Identify client needs and develop creative solutions for projects, leveraging expertise, operational capabilities and technologies.
Maintain high visibility within client organization (e.g., therapeutic area, service line, region).
Maintain positive client relationships to drive repeat business.
At least 3 years of previous experience in working in pharmaceutical services environment, preferably in a CRO, Life Sciences Company or Business Development background specializing in Life Sciences.
Proficiencies across Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other programs.
Excellent written, analytical and communication skills, in person and via email and telephone.
A strong team player with the ability to interact across a range of functions, departments, clinical development phases and organisational levels internally at MAC and externally within customer organisations.
Ability to identify new customers and seek out new business award opportunities, across all clinical Phases and MAC capabilities.
Strategic and/or consulting skills in helping clients maximize short- and long-term drug development goals.
Ability to build relationships and to communicate at senior management level.
Solid understanding of the principles of drug development.
Experience in presenting, packaging and proposing integrated solutions to demonstrate value and potential return on investment to clients.
Demonstrates an entrepreneurial drive blending urgency, strategic thinking, and an awareness of influencing behaviour in a global environment.
Highly effective communicator at all levels with both clients and internally. Must be open and direct with strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be comfortable operating in a demanding, fast paced environment and be capable of reacting swiftly to changing business demands.
Should be driven to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner.
