SENIOR ONCOLOGY RESEARCH NURSE

We have a fantastic opening for a Senior Oncology Clinical Research Nurse to join a new and developing oncology department at our Manchester site. We are flexible on hours of work, and would consider someone on a part-time, full-time or locum basis, looking for opportunities to upskill and gain experience within a research setting.
The focus of the role will be to play an integral part in the planning and development of a new infrastructure for systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) services across our network of clinical research sites throughout the UK. A suitable candidate will act as both a leader and a clinical educator for members of our clinical teams whilst providing specialist support and training, prioritising patient safety, carrying out clinical trial procedures and participating in the effective running of research studies whilst ensuring adherence to ICH and GCP.
During the departmental set up, you’ll be acting as the company’s subject matter expert (SME) for oncology nursing, creating essential clinical guidelines, standard operating procedures and specialist training materials. You will be the main point of contact for core infrastructure requirements including facilities, equipment, personnel, and clinical capacity.
Day to day activities within the running of clinical trials will involve undertaking nursing procedures according to NMC guidelines and having, both, responsibility and accountability for the planning, organising, and prioritisation of your own workload and that of clinical operations personnel involved.
KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
RGN / RMN or
BSc Nursing.
Current NMC registration.
Mentorship programme and/or recognised teaching qualification.
Post-graduate qualification in oncology and/or clinical research desirable.
Completion of the UKONS SACT Competency Passport is mandatory.
Extensive experience of working in oncology nursing and SACT administration required.
Experience within the field of clinical trials desirable, with comprehensive knowledge of the clinical trials process and ICH-GCP. This is not mandatory and training for this can be provided to a suitable candidate.

Dealing with bodily fluids.
Handling of cytotoxic IMP, waste and controlled drugs.
Potentially experiencing emotionally distressing circumstances whilst caring for cancer patients in clinical trials.
Long periods looking at a computer screen.
Meeting deadlines and working within strict timelines.
Flexible approach to working hours with a possible requirement to work some unsocial hours to meet the needs of the clinical unit.
Ability to travel between sites if required.
Ability to travel to national/ international meetings.
