SENIOR ONCOLOGY RESEARCH NURSE

We’ve a fantastic opening for a Senior Oncology Research Nurse to join our team in Manchester.


The focus of the role will be to prioritise patient safety, carry out clinical trial procedures and participate in the effective running of research studies whilst ensure adherence to ICH and GCP.


You’ll be undertaking nursing procedures according to NMC guidelines and have responsibility and accountability for planning, organising and prioritising your workload.


KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • RGN / RMN or

  • BSc Nursing.

  • Current NMC registration.

  • Mentorship programme and/or recognised teaching qualification.

  • Post-graduate qualification in oncology and/or clinical research desirable.

  • Completion of the UKONS SACT Competency Passport is mandatory.

  • Extensive experience of working in oncology nursing and SACT administration required.

  • Experience within the field of clinical trials desirable, with comprehensive knowledge of the clinical trials process and ICH-GCP.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including Staff)

  • Clinical duties and patient safety

  • Patient and customer care

  • Pharmacy – dispensing, administering, handling and storage whilst maintaining accurate records and logs

  • Laboratory – setting up files, record keeping, monitoring and supplying kits

  • Data management

  • Patient recruitment

  • Commercial awareness

  • Professional and self development

  • Compliance with policies, procedures and equality and diversity.

PHYSICAL, WORK ENVIRONMENT, TRAVEL DEMANDS:

  • Dealing with bodily fluids.

  • Handling of cytotoxic IMP, waste and controlled drugs.

  • Potentially experiencing emotionally distressing circumstances whilst caring for cancer patients in clinical trials.

  • Long periods looking at a computer screen.

  • Meeting deadlines and working within strict timelines.

  • Flexible approach to working hours with a possible requirement to work some unsocial hours to meet the needs of the clinical unit.

  • Ability to travel between sites if required.

  • Ability to travel to national/ international meetings.
