MAC Clinical Research manages clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry and we are seeking to appoint a Strategic Proposal Manager to join our team and make a positive impact in a world-leading Clinical Research Organisation.

This role would suit a candidate with a background in defining win strategies for new CRO full-service global opportunities as well as an individual with strategic writing ability and full service budget creation. We are looking for an individual to work with us to bolster the proposal process and optimally position MAC.

The focus of this role is to produce early and late phase strategic proposals and budgets to support the business. This role is home based.


  • Define the optimal process for the development of CRO type strategic proposals, RFI responses and budgets, create process documentation and templates.

  • Analyse, coordinate and develop strategic proposals, RFI responses and budgets for opportunities where MAC is the CRO; act as the key interface between Business Development and Operations.

  • This may include but is not limited to:

  • Coordinating the team Strategy Call and Proposal Development call

  • Defining the client needs

  • Constructing the MAC opportunity “win strategy”

  • Independently drafting the proposal with tailored text and eye-catching graphics

  • Constructing the budget

  • Populating the client grid

  • Co-worker QC

  • Client delivery of all MAC submission material

  • Liaise with internal departments as needed for strategic and operational input into proposals and RFI responses.

  • Work with the VP of Global Proposals and other key stakeholders to coordinate the cost negotiations with the client.

  • Develop and coordinating responses to the client on proposal queries and requests for cost revisions.

  • Prepare updated proposals to reflect change orders.


  • At least 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably within the contract research organisation (CRO environment).

  • Good working knowledge of the steps required to construct a winning strategic client proposal and robust budget.

  • In-depth knowledge of all the services to support early & late stage clinical trials.

  • Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
