We are seeking to appoint a Vice President of Site Clinical Operations to join our team and make a positive impact in a growing and progressive CRO. This role is full time and based in Manchester with some flexible home-based working and some business-related travel to our other clinical sites as required.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be providing leadership to the clinical and PM operational teams and supporting other key aspects of the business.


  • Line management of the Head of Late Phase, EPU Operational managers and Head of Site Project Management.

  • Responsibility for operational standards of MAC Clinics

  • Final point of escalation, operational management and general oversight of site project management studies and MAC clinics.

  • Ensures high levels of quality and service delivery

  • Responsible for alignment and direction of the clinical and site PM teams.

  • Works closely with other departments e.g. patient recruitment, QC and pharmacy teams to mitigate risks to service delivery and ensure efficient delivery of clinical studies.

  • Forward planning of staffing resources in all departments.

  • Development and review of clinical SOPs/policies

  • Works with Quality Management department to ensure clinical sites are working to highest standards of quality

  • Contributes to the acceleration of start up times and FPFVs

  • Takes a primary role for planning and organising service provision, developments and expansions

  • Takes a lead in service development and process improvement

  • Works with Business Development to support business growth and expansion

  • Works with Proposals and Feasibility to assess proposed study feasibility and capacity

  • Brings issues to the attention of the relevant team members and managers to facilitate the smooth running of the clinical and Pm functions and escalate appropriately to higher senior management levels.

  • Works with operational managers to lead, retain and develop staff.


  • A life sciences degree or equivalent

  • A career history within clinical research including clinical site management within industry or the NHS

  • At least 5 years people management experience.

  • Ideally some project management experience
