We are seeking to appoint a Director of Business Development in the United States to join our team and make a positive impact in a growing and progressive CRO. This role is a remote position in the United States, with business travel as required.

The focus of this role is to lead consultative and dynamic sales efforts of MAC services within the US to key decision makers at existing and new sponsor companies. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure MAC sales goals are achieved and individual targets met. You must be a self-starter and excited to grow MAC as a company in your region.



  • BSc in Science/Bio-Science field

  • Minimum of 3 years healthcare/ drug development/ pharmaceutical industry-related work experience or a minimum of 1 year’s sales experience directly selling in or to the clinical research market

  • Have strong inter-personal skills including taking responsibility developing new business relationships spanning MAC’s business lines

  • Demonstrates deep industry knowledge to develop effective and successful account strategies to deliver on their pre-defined sales targets year over year

  • Ability to prioritise, delegate, and follow through on assignment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by positive interactions with colleagues, management, Sponsors and potential Sponsor

  • Strong Microsoft Office suite expertise, especially PowerPoint

  • Consistent achievement of sales targets

  • Comfortable presenting to large groups

  • Proven success in growth strategy and expanding relationships to multiple projects and portfolio level engagements

  • Required to travel within and outside home region, potentially internationally


  • Direct sales activities including, prospecting, cold calling, in-person and virtual sales calls, lead generation, and ultimately closing deals.

  • Develops strategic plan for each assigned account and discovers new ones which are a fit to MAC’s core offerings.

  • Projects annual sales forecasts for territory.

  • Achieve sales goals by generating new business from existing and new customers.

  • Designs and delivers powerful capabilities and bid defence presentations.

  • Creates business opportunities through industry relationships and networks.

  • Proactively resolves sponsor issues by creating specific action plans that support both MAC and sponsor objectives

  • Represents and advocates Business Development at various company meetings.

  • Collaborates and coordinates with other departments in the analysis and development of MAC’s proposal process and ongoing customer service post-award.

  • Assists in the development of marketing materials, promotional materials, and industry meeting strategy, for their territory.

  • Obtains competitive information such as strengths/ weaknesses of competitive CROs (Contract Research Organisation) and pricing.

  • Communicates industry events and trends to management.

  • Input activities and achievements on assigned accounts into CRM (Customer Relationship Management), including leads, contacts, opportunities, meetings, etc. Conducts business/project reviews with existing accounts.

  • Desire and ability to build a regional team as company growth allows. Management thereof.
