We are seeking to appoint a Director of Business Development to join our dedicated team in the USA.
The focus of this role is to identify new clients and grow our existing portfolio in the USA. You will be responsible for promoting MAC’s full services and develop a BD strategy, identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with target clients who require support with phase I-IV clinical studies.
5+ years in clinical research business development (CRO, or sponsor-side).
Proven track record selling high-value clinical development services.
Deep understanding of Phase I-III trials, including execution and pain points for small/mid-size sponsors.
A proven track record of building productive client relationships in the clinical research or health sciences industries.
Ability to translate scientific expertise into compelling commercial conversations.
Self-motivated with experience working remotely and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
Good organizational skills: ability to prioritise, delegate, and evaluate work.
Strong, and effective presentation skills; ability to convincingly present features and benefits of services to clients.
Excellent negotiating skills.
Willingness to travel average 30-40% for client engagements/conferences.
Responsibilities:
Forge strategic partnerships with potential sponsors and manage the territory whilst actively promoting MAC services.
Responsible for developing a BD strategy with the VP of Clinical Science, whilst identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with target clients.
Makes sales calls to prospective new clients to initiate new business relationships, to grow and manage a comprehensive pipeline to hit targets for the company.
Provide market intelligence to support conversations with sponsors about our service offerings and competitive positioning.
Collaborating with colleagues to identify cross-selling opportunities and develop compelling value propositions.
Support the business development team with bid defences.
Attend trade shows including making exhibition arrangements, organizing meetings, and hospitality suite arrangements. Ensure that trade show activities run smoothly.
Compliance with MAC health and Safety policy.
Compliance with MAC policy on equality and diversity.
To maintain professional qualifications required for the role, including continuous personal development.
To work to the relevant FDA guidelines that cover Good Clinical Practice, ethical considerations and patient safety.
To work according to MAC SOPs, guidelines and policies.
To work according to current data protection standards and practice good information management. Maintenance of strict confidentiality of patient and business-related data.
To maintain a high level of initiative and personal responsibility, liaising appropriately with team members and managers to ensure your job role is efficiently carried out.
To support the aims of MAC and to represent MAC appropriately in a professional way to all our customers.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel to the UK.
Willingness to travel average of 30-40% for client engagements/conferences in USA.
