MAC is one of the UK's most successful Clinical Research Organisations and we conduct and execute clinical trials in various therapeutic areas.

We have a vacancy for a full time Project Manager and this role can be based remotely anywhere in the UK or at any of our dedicated research sites.

Working with the Vice President of Global Project Management, the focus of this role is to ensure the successful delivery of stand-alone projects, by application of project management principles, you will lead project teams to ensure that project objectives are met and take an active role in client management and leading communications.


  • Overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.

  • Provide project management leadership to cross-functional teams by integration, facilitating, coordinating and managing all activities related to the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closeout of assigned projects and programmes.

  • Manage projects to ensure integration, coordination and consistency of processes throughout the project life-cycle.

  • Coordinate and manage of the activities of individual projects and team members in a manner that ensures all budgetary requirements, timelines and target deliverables are met.

  • Be the primary contact for communication with study sites/teams, Sponsor companies and Clinical Research Organisations, facilitating effective communication among all project-related parties.

  • Create and maintain project plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Conduct study feasibility and site selection, set-up and management of site(s).

  • Identify resource requirements and assign individual responsibilities.

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project and scope.

  • Review team deliverables before passing to the client.

  • Utilise risk management methodologies to identify risks and work with the team to develop mitigation and contingency plans.

  • Lead the process to document lessons learned and resultant recommendations for the project.

  • Ensure financial reconciliation is performed at project close out.

  • Recognise and submit out of scope requests for costing and approval as appropriate.

  • Prepare management reports and serve as management’s source for project updates on milestones, schedule, key project issues and metrics.

  • Participate in client meetings including, but not limited to, bid defence presentations, Kick Off Meetings, Investigator Meetings etc.


  • At least 3 years experience of management and coordination of clinical trials, for example within a Site Management Organisation, Clinical Research Organisation, NHS clinical trials site or Pharmaceutical company (or equivalent).

  • A life sciences degree and/or recognised project management qualification.
